Please Stop Boycott Bollywood campaign: On Thursday, January 5, Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to help remove the stigma surrounding Bollywood. He asked CM Yogi to do something about the ‘#BoycottBollywood’ Twitter trend.

In an interactive session with UP CM Yogi Adityanath, who is on a two-day visit to Mumbai to discuss shooting and investment opportunities in Noida Film City, actor Sunil Shetty lamented the impact of the boycott campaign on Bollywood. He emphasized the need to bring the audience back to the theaters and change people’s perception of Bollywood/Hindi cinema that everyone indulges in the wrong quest. “I want to talk about this hashtag #BoycottBollywood. If you say something about it, it will stop. It is important to tell people that we have also done a good job,” said Suneel Shetty. The 61-year-old said that even though Bollywood has produced some good movies, but people have now developed a negative perception about Bollywood, which needs to be changed.

 

“Everywhere there is a bad apple, but you can’t count all of us as such. People today think Bollywood is a bad place, but we have made some good films here. When I did Border, I was part of one of them. I have been part of many good and social kind movies. Boycott Bollywood Hashtag “We need to come together and figure out how we can get rid of this trend,” said Shetty. Further, Sunil Shetty asked CM Yogi to discuss the anti-Bollywood campaign with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that “99% of the people” in the industry are good. “If I am Sunil Shetty today, it is because of Uttar Pradesh and the fans there. This is very possible if you take the initiative. It is important to remove the stigma attached to us. It pains me to say that we have this stigma but 99% of us don’t. We don’t get high all day and we don’t do bad work. We are associated with good work. Bollywood music and our movie stories have really connected India with the rest of the world. So Yogi ji, if you take the initiative and talk about it with our beloved Prime Minister, it will bring about a significant change,” he said.

 

Notably, the UP CM was on a two-day visit to Mumbai to promote Uttar Pradesh as “India’s most cinema-friendly state”. On Thursday, he wrapped up his tour by meeting Shetty, Subhash Ghai, Jackie Shroff, Rajkumar Santoshi, Manmohan Shetty, Jackie Bhagnani and Boney Kapoor.
