Mexican drugs King Nottorius Rafael Caro Quintero Arrested

Rafael Caro Quintero is one of the three founding members of the powerful Guadalajara cartel.

Rafael Caro Quintero spent 28 years in prison for the murder of former US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Enrique Camarena.

The murder soured US-Mexico relations at the time and was later dramatized in the Netflix series Narcos: Mexico.

In 2013, a Mexican court cut Mr. Quintero's 40-year sentence and freed him

The ruling was later overturned by the country's Supreme Court - but Rafael Caro Quintero was already in hiding.

US authorities quickly traced him back to drug trafficking and Washington subsequently offered $20m (£17m) for any information leading to his capture.

Mr. Quintero's arrest is symbolically significant, although he is not considered a key figure in international drug trafficking.
